Finding the resources you need in just a few steps:
1- The first thing you need to do is get tested.
2- If you received a Positive Test result, the next thing you need to do make
an appointment with one of the following
HIV Care Docs in the area to verify your Positive Test Result through blood lab
work.
3- Once you verify you are in fact HIV Positive, you should keep seeing one of
these Doctors as your new Primary Care Physician. There is no need to be seeing
a 'specialist' with high insurance co-pays, as most of the Doctors and Clinics
listed below count as your Primary Care Physician with almost all insurances.
4- Call or Email the Positive Support Association to be assigned a very cool and
very discreet Peer Mentor. It's free of charge and there are no contracts to
sign up. They can help you wade through all the 'deep waters' of HIV Care here
in your area. They are trained mentors AND are living with HIV themselves, so
don't be afraid to ask the 'hard questions' you might have. We are here to help
you!
5- Call CAP (Cascade Aids Project at 503-223-5907) or visit them online to set
up an INTAKE appointment to get assigned an HIV CASE MANAGER. You can also call
Partnership Project at OSHU to get signed up via that route as well. You SHOULD
have a Case Manager assigned right off the bat (even if you do not require any
immediate medical assistance). Ask your Positive Support Association Peer Mentor
for help if you need it.
There are millions of free HIV Medications, Services and even organizations to
help you pay your HIV Related medical bills.
DO NOT GO INTO BANQRUPTCY or LOSE YOUR HOME trying to pay the thousands of
dollars worth of HIV related care bills you may receive over the next few years.
Please email us to add your listing for Portland, SW Washington areas
Other Important Metro Area Resources (this list is only as good as you help us make it, please report any changes you see to us for immediate editing)
