Our Positive Support Monthly Chat Group
Meeting
Held the 3rd Monday of the Month, the group is
open to any person who has been recently diagnosed with HIV or AIDS
and others who are already living with, or affected by, HIV or AIDS.
The Group leadership also serves on many other Boards, HIV
Organizations, Case Management and as HIV Care Takers, so your voice
can be heard about issues you are dealing with surrounding living with
or being recently diagnosed with HIV or AIDS. Group membership is
private and anonymous and the cost is free to participants. Spouses,
partners or family members (or care taker friends) who are afflicted
by HIV or AIDS are encouraged to attend on a normal basis.
This
group is open to all sexual orientations and genders, however,
children are not allowed in the group. Positive Children aged 16 and
over are allowed to participate with written permission of their
parent of guardian.
The group is fun and friendly, but issues
over services and care can become heated, but are always interesting.
The group is non-political and other then discussing current
programs and issues, bashing of any political party or person is not
allowed, nor is the bashing of any religion, whether or not they
support HIV/AIDS Victims rights.
Our Peer Mentoring Program
The PSA Peer
Mentorship program is available to any newly diagnosed person who is
referred to us by any other Organization, Health department, Clinic or
Doctors Office.
Actual HIV Positive Mentors are provided at no
cost when a client contacts us directly and wishes the service.
Mentors
are placed with particular clients based upon a the clients personal
situation and area of the newly diagnosed person. There are never any
fees associated with this service, it is private, discreet and secure.
The client can start or
discontinue the friendship at any time and unlike other Organizations,
we don't require intrusive client contracts to be signed. The clients
privacy and security are our number one goal here.
The mentors are trained in
our program to assist and direct the clients to get the proper
resources they may currently need, they are not counselors, just
friends. They are trained to understand the different needs of the
newly diagnosed person because they also HIV or AIDS themselves.
